Observership

This is a 2-week opportunity offered by the De La Salle University Medical Center Department of Emergency Medicine to medical graduates who are either board certified or in the process of certification.

In this period, the medical observer can expect the following:

  • To observe and learn about the proper prioritization of patients according to the Emergency Severity Index (ESI) Triaging System.

  • To encounter a wide range of medical cases, including trauma, acute ambulatory illnesses, chronic diseases and other emergency cases.

  • To observe a high-pressure, fast-paced environment where quick knowledgeable decision-making is crucial.

  • To be able to experience and appreciate the life-saving details that a point-of-care ultrasound can provide.

  • To gain exposure to various medical specialties since after initial stabilization, patients are going to be admitted under different specialties.

  • To observe a collaborative multidisciplinary healthcare team, including physicians, nurses, technicians and support staff.

  • To be under the mentorship of approachable emergency medicine residents and consultants.

Pre-Residency and Residency Program

Now, if you have done the Observership program and wanted more out of our training, you can then proceed to our Pre-Residency Training!

This would involve already counting your initial Observership program as your first half of training while doing another 2 weeks to complete the training itself prior to joining the official Residency Program.
